The role as Head of Business Development is a fantastic opportunity to not only take a key role in this exciting, business; but to be a key part of, and benefit from, the business’s future and commercial success. The appointee will take responsibility for the business development across a national portfolio. They will be responsible for, and take an active part in all functions and performance metrics as would be expected for a business of this nature.

Establishing, developing and monetising customer relationships will be at the centre of this role, winning new business will be the key objective. Increasing client numbers is critical to the onward development of the group.

The Head of Business Development will also be responsible for working with the founding Directors/owners, and in turn, developing their own team further, adding energy, hunger and strategic/commercial focus. A prime task will be to refine/design a clear sales strategy and business development initiatives, with support, and spearhead the delivery of them.

Leading new client contact as well as designing and communicating the business development strategy for the group, with management support, will be the key to exceeding expectations in this innovative business; along with delivering it!

Candidate profile and chemistry fit is critical for this pivotal role. Working within a fast-paced, innovative, entrepreneurial environment, attitude is as important as experience. The person is everything. The Head of Business Development will be the voice of the business, and in doing so will help set the tone, energy and culture for the business, internally and externally….and design its success. The gravity of success is all about having the right attitude, underpinned with demonstrable experience.

This is an unconventional business where results are the prime objective. This is not your usual 9-5 office based BD/Sales role, filled with needless bureaucracy. The business prides itself on a mature, performance based approach, allowing key individuals the ability to manage their diary, their hours and their way (and location) of working, en route to delivery the best possible commercial performance.

Suitable candidates will be high achieving Business Development professionals with either a strong professional services background, or service/solution sell exposure, preferably with expertise across a number of sectors and markets. They will have a demonstrable customer facing Business Development career behind them, but will still have a highly engaged approach, focused on winning new business.

A key requirement of the candidate is to secure new customers, both locally and nationally, promoting the business and building recognition and reputation.

Tact, diplomacy and professionalism are key attributes for this position.

The successful candidate will have significant entrepreneurial ability and desire, and be hugely excited by a very high paced environment, thick with USPs – business development strength is underpinned by a real “Just Do It” attitude.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of the Professional Services sector(s) or closely complimentary industries
  • Demonstrable success in working within a Business Development function with a constant eye for continuous improvement and innovation, focused on new client wins.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, both internally and externally and appreciation of cultural requirements
  • Ability to tailor communications to the appropriate audience.
