An entrepreneurial, high-growth consumer services group is seeking an ambitious commercially astute and technically strong senior Finance Manager. This is a newly created, senior leadership opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a pivotal role in a period of rapid expansion, supporting reporting, modelling, managing external relationships, M&A activity and the continued delivery of ‘business as usual’.
The Finance Manager will be responsible assisting and deputising for the Group Financial Controller with the day-to-day management of the Group and divisional finance departments, operational finance teams, and various reporting functions. The role also includes oversight of business risk, ensuring a strong internal control environment and full compliance with all statutory obligations.
Working closely with the Board, and in particular, the Group FC and newly appointed Group CFO, you will help deliver the strategic aims of the business and lead transformational change across the finance team and wider organisation. You will be expected to assist in providing strong commercial acumen, proactively managing the Group’s P&L and balance sheet.
You will provide robust financial controls alongside the ability to interpret, communicate, and report key financial insights to senior stakeholders. Crucially, you will bring the drive and capability to support change in a profitable, cash-generative and fast-paced environment.
Reporting directly to the Group FC and acting as their ‘right-hand’person’, you will play a critical role in overseeing the Group’s cash flow, ensuring a resilient liquidity position to support day-to-day operations and long-term strategic initiatives. This includes modelling, proactive forecasting, continuous monitoring, and forward-looking planning to facilitate confident and informed decision-making.
You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, leading the preparation of annual budgets, and upholding a sound internal control environment. In addition, you will get the chance to contribute at a strategic level by developing and implementing financial risk management frameworks aligned with the Group’s objectives.
Key Accountabilities
- Timely, accurate, and relevant financial reporting
- Oversight of all statutory reporting obligations (including statutory accounts, corporation tax, PAYE, VAT, and Companies House filings)
- Management, motivation, and development of the accounts team, ensuring high-quality outputs across all areas
- Ownership of payroll, expenses, DD tracker, and purchase ledger payment run sign-offs
- Development of internal management reporting systems
- Implementation and enhancement of internal controls and risk mitigation processes
- Production and management of annual budgeting cycles
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations and Management
- Manage the daily finance operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and month-end close processes.
- Lead the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts, financial statements, and performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting cycle, working closely with budget holders to ensure accuracy and accountability.
Team Leadership and Development
- Line manage and develop the finance team including the Assistant Finance Manager, Finance Analyst, and Accounts Administrators.
- Set clear objectives, provide mentoring and support, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Ensure effective team workflows, capacity management, and delivery of high-quality outputs across the function.
Financial Planning and Analysis
- Support the Financial Controller with strategic financial planning and scenario modelling.
- Conduct variance analysis and financial performance reviews to identify risks, opportunities, and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Provide financial insight and reporting to support key decision-making across the organisation.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all financial policies, procedures, and external regulations.
- Support the audit process and implementation of audit recommendations.
- Identify potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial guidance, improve financial understanding, and support operational delivery.
- Assist in preparing financial presentations and reports for senior management and governance meetings.
- Maintain productive relationships with external partners such as auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies
This is a broad, commercially involved Financial Management role requiring not only a strong technical and controls background but also the ability to add strategic and commercial value.

Qualifications & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) preferred.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, controls, and UK accounting standards.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, and finance systems.
Experience
- Proven experience in a similar finance role, ideally with 5+ years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Track record of successfully managing financial operations within a complex business environment.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and producing financial reports for senior stakeholders.
