They are seeking a Sales Account Manager with both entrepreneurial energy and technical curiosity, someone who can translate customer challenges into breakthrough solutions, and who sees the enormous potential of a market that is rapidly moving beyond plastic. About the Role

A newly-created, customer-facing sales and account management position responsible for generating new business growth and further developing existing relationships in line with short, medium, and long-term strategic plans. The focus is on exploiting newly installed operational coating capability for both new and existing customers.

The appointee will take a high degree of autonomy in the management, development and leadership of their key markets, but with the full support of the Board and technology functions across this global business.

The successful candidate will design, develop and implement clear strategies to profitably expand the sales in their markets, and beyond. They will be tasked with the management of new and existing cusomters to achieve the agreed profitability and sales targets as well as the on-going performance.

But this is not a stand-still role. The appointee will be on a set succession planning strategy to broaden their role and see it develop. Opportunities are as uncapped as the appointees aspiration, and earnings.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned sales growth in markets requiring advanced coatings and production methods.
  • Translate customer needs into and manage early-stage new business opportunities to determine key success factors.
  • Develop new relationships at customers, OEMs and key suppliers of materials.
  • Project-manage new business development activity in specific designated areas.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and strategy review.
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the current product portfolio and technical/operational capability.
  • Liaise with technical and product development functions on future customer and market requirements.
  • Develop detailed and sense-checked roadmaps to gain access to new markets.
  • Keep abreast of competitor activity and technically driven market developments.
  • Coordinate and ensure new business / new product development activity is well managed.
  • Provide the business with a depth of market knowledge and customer insight to facilitate tactics for entry into target areas of growth.
  • Attend and coordinate relevant industry trade shows.

Suitable candidates will be experienced Sales Professionals with demonstrable commercial and operations capability. They will crucially have had commercial (and sales) exposure within broadly relevant technology/scientifically led products, and/or sustainable sectors.

The appointees will have worked within in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, commercial environment. They

will have designed commercial sales and business development strategies, worked closely with operations and technical teams in designing solutions and have had success in doing to. 

They will be ready to take that step up to lead the expansion into some of world’s high-growth markets; markets fuelled by consumer demands as well as legislation.

The successful candidate will have had extensive experience of controlling the entire sales cycle and doing so with high levels of autonomy and commerciality.


Suitable candidates will already be high achieving, experienced BD/Sales/Account Managers with a track record of personal success. They will possess a strong ethos in supreme service delivery, customer engagement and a background in creating and managing a culture of success. They will have significant entrepreneurial ability and desire, and be hugely excited by a very fast paced environment, thick with USPs – technical strength is underpinned by a real “Just Do It” attitude.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in international technological product sales, account management or business development.
  • Proven new-business generation skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience interacting globally with customers, suppliers and OEMs.

Desirable:

  • Background in specialist coating markets.
  • Familiarity with business model generation and formal review processes.
  • Knowledge of coating, laminating, paper, synthetics, printing and conversion.
  • Degree level education
  • Recognised sales and or project management training

Technical Skills & Abilities

  • Project management and problem-solving skills.
  • High motivation with a performance-driven mindset.
  • Technically capable of conducting advanced product dialogue with clients.
  • Financial and technical interpretation, analytical and business-modelling skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of coating operational technologies such as curtain and slot bead.
